Return to London from Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe...what can one say...........the country, it's people, the infrastructure appears to be being wilfully destroyed. There is no natural/act of god event that has created the disaster that is taking place there. Arrived...whatever day it was..........and was offered $Z40,000.00 to the pound, the following day that had increased to $Z50,000.00 and for the next two days the rate increased by ten thousand dollars a day.............I exchanged enough money that day...the fourth...to last two weeks........so I am uncertain if the rise continued.............but hey...........whew.........how can any one living in the country deal with that sort of situation.......and the official rate.............jeeeeeeeeeeeeez, not real, not real at all. For the first time in my life I was a dollar millionaire........wow! What else happened in Zim, well......the electricity went off every day....a thing called "load shedding". It usually lasts for a few hours....the principle is that it

Jeepy things and hairdressers

Image
Talking about stupid jeep things driven by hairdressers and mobile phones......this one rode up a tyre (in full lock position) of a parked car and flipped. Hairdresser and child were okay. Mobile got a divorce....hairdresser lost custody of own brain. Posted by Picasa

Crap Food closes down British Airways

I am seriously pissed off. The only opportunity to get to Zimbabwe this year.....for only two weeks............and British Airways closes down. The areshole management of the catering firm should also be closed down for their incompetence......not only with dealing with their workforce but also with the inevitable CRAP food they dish up. Talking about bikes...not really

I ride everywhere............don't have a car. I am stunned how stupid people look in their big monster 4X4's as they sit in traffic jams in the city.....these vehicles must be the flared trousers of the new century, they are ridiculous. Another mad vehicle knocking about the streets of Brixton and Peckham is the insanely silly small "jeep" like machine usually driven by a "hairdresser" and a mobile phone. I suspect that the phone has more brains in it's circuitry than the "hairdresser"..........and that other desperately camp set driving around in their Beemers (BMW's). They have tons of sad, sad looking bits of metal strung around their necks and wrists, their shades look as if they've fallen off the back of a lorry.....they wear prissy coordinated (white) jump suites and they scowl like a Brazilian tranny with diarrhea.............how cool is that. The boys with their jeans hanging halfway down their ass......................very sub

Well, went for a ride yesterday to clear the head and get my back manipulated. Great day, however the clouds and vapour trails (global dimming) created an anxious looking sky. The bike just stood up by its self....like good bikes should.....none of this crap falling over stuff. Posted by Picasa

And so it's Monday

Monday looked good at 6:00am and improved through out the day. Did some painting of doors in preparation for winter. Painted some walls as well in a fit of energy. By 1:00pm the day was blissful, took the camera onto the Rye and thought of making a picture or two to celebrate this perfect day................didn't bother. Sat around taking in the rays and then wondered across to the dentist. I had an appointment to see an HYGIENEist..........never had one before...turned out to be a dentist who didn't pull teeth or fill them......every thing elese was the same. The three guys who alledgedly tried to bomb us on the tubes and busses were in court today. The Shuttle was left up in space because of clouds at the landing site..........what's this all about. Iran has started reprocessing nuke fuel again...............despite the fact they dont have and power stations to use the stuff.............what's THAT all about................maybe it's a game of bluff with the USA.

Oxford Street 6 August. The place was empty. The papers estimated that there had been a 30% drop in trade last Saturday..........looked and felt more like 40% drop in people from pre 7/7. Posted by Picasa

The Way to Paris

Image
Following the trip to Amsterdam I was sent some stills from a movie that a friend made some ........well........a few years ago.

Off to Zimbabwe soon

It's been a series of sad journeys "back home" over the last twenty years. Not living there you notice more acutely the breakdown in the infrastructure. What will this one bring...apart from the well publicized demolitions?

Phuuuuuuur...phhhhhew

Not sure what the hell I am doing at the moment but I guess in a day or two things may become clearer...............perhaps. Well...........I have discovered how to post images and make captions. That's good I think. We have just returned from Amsterdam reconnecting with a friend who we lost contact with 16 years ago.......it sort of begs the question what sort of friends we were that allowed 16 years to pass............. tell you what... those 16 years just seem like a long weekend.
